SALCAB SUPPORTS ENTREPRENEURS TO GO TO MARKET WITH THEIR IDEAS
GoMarkit was one of the businesses that participated in Season One of the SALCAB Tech Start-up Challenge and won the prize money of $5,000 (50 Million Leones). They went through the three-month incubation program with Innovation Axis and SALCAB is happy to announce that they have officially launched their app and started operations.
GoMarkit’s primary business operation is the purchase of fresh food items from farmers and small producers and they resell directly to consumers via their app. All deliveries are FREE! The app is available on Google Play Store and on Apple Store.
This service is very essential during the current COVID-19 crisis when everyone’s trying to keep safe by keeping human interactions minimal. GoMarkit provides a safe, secure and efficient option to get your food items easily without compromising your safety. It also demonstrates how technology can be leveraged to make our daily operations and activities seamless which was one of the major reasons why we launched the SALCAB Tech Start-up Challenge as a CSR initiative.
SALCAB, through the Tech Start-up Challenge, is driving innovation by creating a platform for young people to showcase their technological solutions and not only stand a chance to win seed capital but also attract investment.
The theme for this year’s challenge is Tech for Change, #T4C, which represents using technology to drive sustainable change. Like last year, the challenge will focus on four thematic areas; health, education, agriculture and energy. Contestants must develop technology-driven solutions to tackle problems faced in Sierra Leone around the four thematic areas. SALCAB will form collaborative partnerships for coaching and mentoring the participants. Participants will stand a chance to win the $5,000 (50 Million Leones) cash prize and a three-month incubation program.
